Mother's Kitchen

Amma’s Charitable Meal Program in Massachusetts

2008 Dates
TBA

Presently, Mother’s Kitchen’s continues to provide monthly meals to the homeless through 2 churches in the Cambridge area: the First Parish Unitarian Church in Harvard Square and the Faith Lutheran Church on Broadway Street. Both churches serve meals to the homeless on Tuesdays. Volunteers are needed from 5:00-7:30 pm to chop veggies, serve and clean up afterwards.

We invite you join our team of Mother’s Kitchen volunteers and help us bring a wholesome and nourishing meal to those in need. Please contact Pam Reich if you are interested in volunteering on Tuesdays, or if you would like to be involved in any of our future endeavors:

Mother's Kitchen started in Boston in 1998 in response to AMMA’ s directive to have her children serve and feed the poor. A female devotee, inspired by AMMA's call to her Satsang, pioneered Mother's Kitchen at a homeless shelter in Cambridge, MA. The project was announced at a Satsang meeting and a handful of devotees volunteered to cook meals at home and deliver the meals to the shelter. Mother's Kitchen expanded in 2000, under the leadership of another devotee coordinator, to include a second and larger shelter for women with children in the city of Boston. At this center, over 1,000 meals were cooked and served to homeless women and children. Devotees from different locations in Massachusetts and other states in New England participated in this seva. In total, over 2,800 meals have been served since 1998 at shelters in Boston and Cambridge, MA.
