What is Jyotish?
Astrology is called “Jyotish” in Sanskrit, meaning “science of light.” Jyotish is the science of understanding the subtle influences that come to us from the universe. These influences are a reflection of the law of karma. Here, both fate and free will operate. Fate means that our present circumstances are a result of our actions from previous lives. The external events of our lives are ruled by past karma - over this we have little control. Free will means that our future is shaped by our actions in the present. Jyotish can help us to understand how to optimize our potential so our lives develop according to our true destiny. It gives us an idea of the trends and periods of life - when to act and when not to act. It offers practical remedies that can help to alleviate areas of difficulty in life.
Someone once asked Mother: “Amma, what is the purpose of astrology and pujas when we have the Guru?”
Amma replied: “When one is completely surrendered to the guru, the planets stop acting and the guru takes over completely… when that happens there is no need for astrology or pujas”. She went on to say with the next breath, however, that She has seen very few with that level of surrender. So, while we are on the way to cultivating that supreme surrender to the guru, knowledge of astrology can be beneficial.
Vilasitha will be giving jyotish readings this year. She has been a Amma’s devotee since 2001. She has provided Jyotish consultations during Amma’s programs in USA, Europe and India. With Amma’s blessing, Vilasitha is visiting various satsangs and centers next few months. Revenues support Amma’s humanitarian activities.

Cost/Payment
The cost for the Jyotish consultations is the same as during Amma’s World Tour, $60 per half-hour. longer appointments are also available. Payment may be made by cash or check payable to “MA Center”, and given to the astrologer at the end of the reading.
Recording the Sessions
Recording the sessions is encouraged, and everyone may bring their own recorder.
Remedial Measures
The main remedies offered by Jyotish for bringing balance into life involve the wearing of gemstones, performance of pujas (sacred rituals designed to remove harmful forces or enhance positive forces),and performance of personal sadhanas. Sadhana, pujas and gemstones may be recommended.

Om Amriteswaryai Namaha,
I am getting my first reading in Worcester with Prasannan. I signed up for a 30 minute session. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I should expect. Will the reading mostly be Prasannan telling me things, or is it generated by me asking questions?

Usually people have either very specific issue(s) or few areas (e.g job, health, children etc.) they want to focus on. I have done it once few years ago. It was partly Prasannan addressing my questions and also partly he sharing with me few associated issues that he noticed. Let him know beforehand what you are interested in. That helps him focus given the limited time span.
I am guessing the process is the same now.

Laura,
We have got our readings done by him and he is so accurate that you will never ask anyone else anything again. My husband and I trust him completely. If your birth time is not accurate he may ask you some questions to determine that. Once this is determined, you can ask any question. It is better to ask specific questions so he can focus on that issue. He is amazing and we look forward to seeing him again. Best of luck.

I definitely brought the list of significant dates and was very happy that I also had birth times of significant people. Their readings revealed important information for my own reading as well. Definitely bring your important questions and expect also that Prasannan will not be limited to just those areas of concern. After I saw him for the first time last year, I knew I would be going back.
