Amma Loves us the Most

Amma Loves us the Most

Story from a devotee

I bow to the holy feet of Divine Mother Amma and to all the brothers and sisters present here tonight.

Being in Amma’s divine presence is, for me, a unique opportunity and a priceless present. It has brought meaning into my life and given me the chance to witness how She brings harmony into the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

I first found out about Amma through a photo of Her back in 2001. Antonio José, my friend and roommate, was instrumental in my meeting Her. After seeing Her photograph I felt deeply convinced that Amma would always be with me. Back then I lived and worked as an actor in Japan. Up until then working, traveling, making new friends, and looking forward to going out and having fun on the weekends had been the only things that made sense to me in life. However, I had always wondered if that was the real reason why we were born in this world.

I first met Amma in person the following year here in Barcelona. Since Her first darshan I began to feel loved by Her and certain that She is the very Divine Mother. However, what struck me the most about that first encounter was my missing Her when She left from Barcelona.

One day, at home, I felt in my chest this very intense heat welling up from the depths of my heart. I didn’t know why I suddenly burst into tears. The reason for my crying was that I longed to see Mother again. I was surprised to notice that, every time I cried, I’d feel this peace and calm that I’d never experienced before in my life. I even got to think that I was going crazy. However, what was really happening to me was that I was beginning to feel Amma’s grace.

Her grace had grown very deep roots within me. I realized that everything I’d done up until that moment made me feel unhappy. Then I began to call out for Amma like a little child, and I told Her from within myself, “Oh Divine Mother! You can help me!” Amma’s answer came immediately in the form of some words She put in my mind, “My son, go to satsang.” So, without a doubt in my mind, I went to a satsang group.

After hearing Amma’s voice inside, I learned that the Divine Mother always answers Her devotees’ sincere calls, wherever they might be.

The following story proves this. Some years ago, my friend Bandia’s grandchild had been in the ICU for 2 months on the point of death. Unable to breathe by himself, he needed the aid of a respirator. One day, my heartbroken friend Bandia went to see him and, while watching him through the ICU’s glass wall, she wept and cried to Amma, “O beloved Mother! My grandchild is in a coma and hasn’t been able to open his eyes all this time. Please, Divine Mother, can you make him open them?”

At that very moment, her grandchild turned on his ICU bed, opened his eyes and smiled to his grandmother. While the ICU nurses couldn’t believe their eyes, Bandia knew that her grandchild had responded, thanks to Amma’s blessings. This is how the grace of a Self-realized and God-established being such as Mother works.

Listening to and personally going through such experiences encouraged me to visit Amma’s ashram in India and, ever since, to follow Her on Her tours and doing seva (selfless work). While in Her ashram that first time, I could witness the magnitude of Her social work throughout India. After a stay of several months in Her ashram, I decided to move there and become one of the many members of Mother’s huge family worldwide. I could also realize that Her social work is not only restricted to India, but embraces many more areas… Her grace is Universal since She is permanently established in God-realization. The following experience is a clear example of the power of a Master such as Mother.

Just a few hours ago, today, I was told about a woman’s experience which is yet another example of Amma’s omnipresence. I didn’t hesitate to adapt the satsang that I’m reading out to you in order to share this story with you all.

Carmen is a woman who’d been suffering from aches and pains in her body for many years, most of her life one could say. One day, as she was lying in bed, she reached the limit of her capacity to put up with the pain. She asked God, she asked Amma, to help her bear the pain with dignity and, if possible, to alleviate it. But if what she was asking for wasn’t feasible, she also asked Amma to take her with Her forever. While she was praying to the Divine Mother, while she was desperately begging Amma for this, she started to hear some very loud music that would go on and on. She thought it came from her neighbor’s apartment, because it was so persistent and ever louder. Suddenly she heard a noise – something that sounded like a peck. Different dots of light started coming into her bedroom through her locked window. Suddenly, Amma appeared at the foot of her bed.

Mother looked radiant and Carmen kept telling Her, “O Mother! You’ve come to see me! I can’t believe it. I can’t believe you’re here, Mother!” The she heard Amma telling her, “You’ll feel better when you get up, and you’ll feel much better tomorrow. You’ll start recovering as days go by. The doctors are doing a good job. Have faith. Everything’s going to be all right.”

Mother disappeared to the same music that was heard when She appeared, a piece of music that has permeated this woman’s consciousness forever. Later on, that woman found out that that music was actually one of Mother’s bhajans.

Once that experience was over, Carmen asked Mother to give her some proof that what had just happened to her was true. She walked to the spot where Amma had stood a few moments before. As she knelt down to thank Amma, she realized that a mark had been engraved which wasn’t there before, in the middle of a floor tile. As she bowed down as an expression of her gratitude, she was overcome by this intense scent of roses.

The mark on the floor tile and the scent of roses remain there, at the foot of her bed, even though this experience took place on Feb 22, this year.

The next morning Carmen got up feeling very agile, very happy, looking forward to doing things. Her friends and family could not believe it.

I can assure you that this is but one of the many marvelous stories that continuously take place around Amma, all of which bear witness to Her omnipresence. They also show us that the sole purpose of Amma’s divine incarnation is helping mankind. As in this woman’s case, Amma can help us by alleviating our pain. Or, as in the cases of many other devotees, She can help us by giving us the strength to bear the pain with dignity.

Ever since I met Mother, I’ve realized that, as you offer Her all your troubles, you gradually become Her instrument, which is what eventually helps you enjoy a different perspective on life, what makes you feel happy inside. Following Mother’s steps is following God’s steps.

Contemplating the life of surrender of a Guru such as Amma, who has come to lead us to our goal in life and to offer Herself wholeheartedly to serving the world, is something that words can never describe, something beyond human understanding. That’s why there are no words to describe the greatness of a being such as Mother, who manifests Her Glory and Splendor in the humblest of all manners – by embracing the world.

Eternally grateful to Her, I offer myself at Her feet.

Thank you again, Mother Divine, for looking after us all like no one else can.
