It is a great honor to serve Amma :). We feel blessed to host Amma every summer at Boston. It takes a lot of person hours to make Amma’s programs possible. All of this work is done by volunteers. The work done by volunteers is termed as Seva. “Seva” is a Sanskrit word that means selfless service.
The New England Seva (Selfless Service) Coordinator team is excited to meet with you Saturday, April 28th for a collaborative sevite / volunteer meeting in preparation for our beloved AMMA’s tour to Boston. We invite everyone to attend this Free SEVA meet for tour planning for Amma’s North East 2012 Tour.

DANDIYA DANCE WORKSHOP - CANCELED FOR NOW
Dandiya Raas is a popular dance performed all over the world during the festive season of Navratri. Dandiya Raas is performed in the honor of Goddess Durga. It is the dramatization of a mock fight between the Goddess and Mahishasura - the mighty demon-king. The sticks of the dance represent the sword of Durga.
Men, women and children of all ages participate. The colorful sticks, used as prop of Dandiya Raas, are usually made of bamboo. This is the reason why it is also known as ’stick dance’. Groups of dancers strike the sticks with changing partners and dance in circular motion, to the rhythm of the music played in the background. Groups dance at all different speeds making it possible for people of all ages and abilities to participate. Dandiya Raas in Navratri is a mesmerizing thing to watch as well as to participate in.
