Amma’s Lexington, MA Satsang
On the auspicious occasion of Shivaratri a special Satsang will be held on Saturday February 13, 2010. There will be a separate archana for lord Shiva with Bilva Leaves, while chanting Bilvashtakam or Lingashtakam. Bilva leaves are known to be very sacred for Lord Shiva. Following this there will be chanting of MahaMritunjaya mantra praying to the Lord to grant us a life devoid of sickness and illness. Shiva bhajans will be sung including some of Amma’s favorite Shiva bhajans. Stories related to Lord Shiva and the significance of Shivaratri can be shared; ending with a delicious vegetarian meal.
Lingashtakam is a powerful invocation of Lord Shiva. The lyrics to this sacred chant along with English translation and a video song can be found here. Please take few moments to familiarize with the octet.
